Age 4 Batemans Bay ![]() Brother Jeff and David with Blairgowrie flathead... check out the socks ! |
David was born on 8 June 1964 in Manly, New South Wales, Australia. At age 2 he moved to Frankston, Victoria and has stayed in the area ever since. David's first fishing memories are at age 4 fishing at Batemans Bay NSW where he fished with his grandfather Max Hale. David still returns to the South Coast of NSW every Christmas holidays and now calls the town of Narooma his second home. During the '70's, David's grandparents owned a holiday house at Blairgowrie on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, and this area remains one of David's favourite fishing destinations today. At age 18, David purchased his first boat, an old Pride something or other. He has owned a boat ever since and currently has a Haines Hunter 580SF powered by a Yamaha 175hp, named "Reel Action". David's parents moved from Frankston to Cairns in 1993, which provided him with a base to stay while he fished extensively in the game fishing grounds out from Cairns. His fondest memory was being able to fish with legendary skipper Laurie Woodbridge aboard Sea Baby IV, prior to Laurie suffering poor health. In 2001, David, along with his 2 kids, took long service leave from his job and travelled towing his tinny through central Australia to Darwin, into Kakadu, over to Karumba in the Gulf and then down the entire east coast of Australia. If there was somewhere to stop and fish, he did it. A trip of a life time, captured all on film. Talking of his kids, Ben and Tegan have fished extensively from a very young age because they had to! Rather sad that when Tegan was 7 years old, she knew every species you could imagine, baited her own hook, and practiced kiss and release (she was forced to watch Rex Hunt). While David has enjoyed a lifetime of fishing for recreation, he decided a few years ago to work in the industry. David's credentials in the recreational fishing industry include: - Director
of Futurefish Foundation Limited
